Kickstarter

Our Kickstarter Campaign is a blast.

For those unfamiliar with Kickstarter, it is a brilliant idea and an excellent way to both discover interest in and raise funds for a new business venture.  They cover a very wide variety of creative endeavors:
art, comics, dance, design, fashion, film & video, food, games, music, photography, publishing, technology and theater.

Our Kickstarter campaign is currently about 40% funded, with 27 days remaining.  There's a very good chance that it will go forward, although the more word gets out about it, the better, so spread the word!

I get such a thrill every time Kickstarter emails me with information about a new backer.  It isn't because of the money coming in: it's because one more person is excited about this festival, just like we are.

Different pledge amounts garner increasingly more awesome rewards. One of the rewards we are the most excited about is access passes to our VIP Pavilion. We will have a special spot designated on the festival grounds where we will have drinks and snacks for our VIP members, and our acts will visit and provide more intimate performances in the Pavilion. The only way to get VIP tickets is by pledging through Kickstarter.  Unfortunately, if we don't meet our Kickstarter fundraising goal by the deadline, we won't be able to have a VIP tent at all.

One of the really interesting things about Kickstarter is that if funding doesn't reach the goal, no money changes hands whatsoever.  That way investors can back a project, and if funding isn't completed they aren't out any money; the person behind the idea doesn't have to find and return the money, nor have the expectations to produce something without enough backing.

For us, the show will go on regardless.  The magnitude of awesomeness will simply be amplified by funding through Kickstarter.  Plus, it will help us gauge whether or not to do something like the VIP tent in future years.

Finally, I really want to crown someone queen or king of the festival.  I love lavishing attention on the awesome people who support us!
